This photo shows the tower raising for a relay tower that brought television signals over the horizon to the remote town where I grew up. I believe it relayed signals from an NBC affiliate in North Platte, Nebraska, so that in my earliest memories, rooftop antennae in town could pick up (I believe) five stations including that one. The family business sold and repaired TVs and appliances, so my father and uncles promoted fundraising for the tower and installed the large antenna at its top (not yet reached here, since more tower segments are visible on the ground). The pickup truck partially hidden by the hill at the left belonged to the family business.
